Luis Romero Cortés

Luis Romero Cortés was born in Huelva (Spain), on December 14th, 1988.

He received his BSc degree (five-year program) in telecommunications engineering and MSc degree in electronics, signal processing and communications from University of Sevilla, Spain, in 2011 and 2012, respectively, both with full honors. During his 3rd BSc year he worked at the Institute of Optics of the Spanish Higher Research Council, Madrid (Spain), under the supervision of Dr. Juan Diego Ania Castañón, in the field of nonlinear optics. During his last BSc year he had the opportunity to study the theory of quantum information. He also got a national scolarship which he dedicated to work in the fields of advanced modulation formats in coherent optical communication systems and spectral interfermoetry techniques for optical signal characterization with Prof. Alejandro Carballar Rincón. During his MSc he worked at the Center of Advanced Aerospace Technologies, Sevilla (Spain), in the field of space-time signal processing for aerospace communication systems.

He is currently pursuing his PhD degree with the Ultrafast Optical Processing group at the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique – Energie, Matériaux et Télécommunications, Université du Québec (Canada), under the supervision of Prof. José Azaña.

His recent research interests include quantum optics and its applications to information processing and computing, as well as real-time full caracterization of ultrafast optical signals, and ultrafast optical signal processing for microwave photonics applications.

Luis Romero Cortés is a member of the Opical Society of America (OSA), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE) and the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE).
